A produção de carne sustentável e orgânica do Pantanal cresceu em Mato Grosso do Sul. Dados da ABPO (Associação Pantaneira de Pecuária Orgânica e Sustentável) apontam que o número de animais abatidos e considerados orgânicos e/ou sustentáveis aumentou 66% de um ano para o outro, saltando de 78 mil para mais de 130 mil cabeças.

O destaque fica para os animais machos, sendo cerca de 70% classificados com acabamento de gordura excelente para o mercado.

“Isso significa produto com mais tempo de gôndola, então nossos parceiros do varejo têm uma tranquilidade maior pra trabalhar esse produto. Produto com melhor apresentação nas embalagens e com mais qualidade, com mais sabor, mais maciez.”

Conforme a ABPO, junto ao volume de produtores, os incentivos avançaram, saltando de R$ 8 milhões, em 2022, para R$ 12 milhões no ano passado.

“Mais de 150% de incremento de volume de abate em dois anos. A gente tem o apoio de uma política pública do governo do estado que concede o incentivo fiscal para os animais que são oriundos de propriedades certificadas e animais certificados. Isso tem sido um grande incentivador para adesão dos produtores ao programa. Mas a gente tem também a sociedade evoluindo, cada vez mais interessada em conhecer os produtos que ela consome.”

O produtor rural Leonardo Barros aponta duas características do produto. “A nossa carne tem uma identificação de origem, que é o Pantanal. Esses animais comeram pastagem nativa do Pantanal. A segunda característica é que toda a carne que entra aqui é certificada. Nós temos dois tipos de certificação: orgânica e sustentável. Eles têm em comum uma preocupação muito grande com a questão social e ambiental.”

Em Mato Grosso do Sul, as lavouras de soja e milho dominam o estado. Juntas, a primeira e segunda safra das culturas representam mais de 97% da produção total de grãos. Mas, nos últimos quatro anos, municípios ao sul, que enfrentam desafios com a disponibilidade de boas terras, têm buscado outras opções para o cultivo.

“Nós éramos produtores de soja, né? A gente plantava soja e milho. E aí, começamos a observar que essas áreas de solo mais arenoso, principalmente no município de Glória de Dourados, eram mais vulneráveis em função do clima e textura do solo. Então, na safra passada, montamos um projeto-piloto e plantamos uma área aqui em Glória. Obtivemos uma produtividade bem razoável e descobrimos o amendoim como uma alternativa rentável”.

Rogério e Jair trabalham juntos no cultivo de 700 hectares de amendoim em Glória de Dourados, onde a colheita já começou. Segundo eles, a cultura se adaptou bem à terra com baixo teor de argila, o que facilita na hora do arranquio por ser mais arenosa.

Mesmo investindo duas vezes mais por hectare com o amendoim, Rogério conta que é possível ter uma margem de lucro maior com a nova cultura. Antes, ele gastava R$ 4 mil por hectare com a soja para lucrar R$ 2 mil. Com o amendoim, gasta R$ 8 mil por hectare para lucrar R$ 6 mil.

“A gente plantou 20% da área de soja com amendoim e conseguimos ter uma rentabilidade bem maior do que os 80% da área cultivada com soja. Então, este ano decidimos plantar 100% da área com amendoim”, comenta Rogério.

Mato Grosso do Sul é o segundo maior produtor de amendoim em casca do Brasil, ficando atrás apenas de São Paulo. A área plantada no estado beira os 10 mil hectares e, se tudo ocorrer bem, a produção total pode ser recorde nesta temporada, atingindo 30 mil toneladas.

Em Fátima do Sul, os irmãos Elvis e Erivaldo fizeram as últimas quatro safras de soja e milho, mas tiveram prejuízos. Neste ano, apostaram no amendoim para a propriedade de 16 hectares que cuidam.

“Começamos a investir na lavoura, mas não obtivemos os resultados esperados com soja e milho. A terra produzia, mas às vezes não dava um bom retorno em termos de valores. Como é uma terra arenosa, vimos que o amendoim se sairia melhor nessas áreas e começamos a migrar mais para o amendoim”.

Aos poucos, essa nova opção de safra vai ganhando espaço nas lavouras de Mato Grosso do Sul. A área ocupada pelo amendoim é de 8.855 hectares, representando um crescimento de 26% em comparação com 2023.

Para o gerente de fazenda Aldo Lopes, que já trabalhou no cultivo de arroz e soja, o amendoim é promissor, mas é preciso aprender mais sobre a cultura. “É diferente. Estou conhecendo agora e adquirindo conhecimento. O amendoim se adapta bem em áreas com terras mais fracas; ele é mais resistente e dá um fôlego para o agricultor, principalmente para os pequenos.”

José Sebastião da Rosa é operador de máquina e também está se adaptando à nova cultura. “É importante estar sempre alinhado porque a máquina leva duas ruas e forma uma fileira só; é preciso controlar a velocidade e estar atento para garantir que não haja problemas. Cuidar sempre do facão onde arranca; às vezes pega em um toco e quebra.”

Aqueles que escolheram o amendoim nesta temporada já fazem planos para aumentar a área nos próximos anos. “Outros membros da família estão interessados em se juntar a nós. Será uma lavoura familiar; formaremos um grupo entre familiares para evoluir ainda mais no ramo do amendoim.”
